downhill racer jumping log The Course

The downhill course is a 1.7 km "Under 15 Friendly" course with go-arounds for all technical jumps and gaps — making it a race for all levels of athletes. The course record was posted last year at 3 minutes 5 seconds. With thanks to the DH locals, the course boasts gap jumps, huge berms, launches and hard packed lines. The top logged area allows for great spectator opportunities and unique visual sightings of your opponent! Many thanks to Island Timberlands for coming through last year with machinery to rebuild this section! Click here for a map of the DH course (PDF file, 80 KB). Full Face Helmet is Mandatory!

Cycling BC Sanctioned

$10 non insured one-event ($5 for U17). A $30 insured one-event is also available. See Cycling BC website for info.

Weekend Schedule

May 31st, 2008

Free racer BBQ presented by MarketPlace IGA Wilson Creek, at 3pm. Obtain your ticket in advance from the staging area. You will not be able to sign-on at this time; however your name will be confirmed as a registered participant. Additional tickets are $10.00.

June 1st, 2008

All riders must complete a mandatory pre-ride the morning of the race. Your registration includes unlimited shuttles from 8am to noon. We highly encourage all riders to use the provided shuttles as the route is very narrow and additional trucks will cause congestion.

9:40am Shuttles stop leaving from Registration & start leaving from the bottom of the DH course
12:00pm Shuttles and Practice Runs End

Category start times and last shuttle information will be posted the morning of the event. The start line will be seeded based on estimated finish times (slowest to fastest) and will follow Cycling BC's start line procedure. One-Event and Citizen licenced riders will be starting 30 seconds apart; UCI Licenced riders 60 seconds apart.

Downhill Pre-Ride Shuttle Instructions

The yellow line on the map is the DH course. To pre-ride the course before May 31st, drive up B&K logging road for approx 2.5km and turn left off B&K. (There is a pullout directly on right with sign bulletin — known as the mattresses). Turn right at next fork and continue for approx. 1 km. Park car at next fork and push your bike up left fork. The road will turn to trail. Stay left after creek crossing for 200m — you will see Mach Chicken DH sign at the start of the trail.

Saturday Pre-Rides

There are no official pre-rides on Saturday but the course will be open (unsupervised) AFTER 12pm. Please remember, there is a XC race in progress and you do not have right of way. You will be required to stop if directed by a marshall. 'Huck Wagon' shuttles will be available for $20 (day pass, per person) — starting at 12pm. Passes will be for sale at registration.

Awards

Prizing TBA. As soon as the results are done, we will begin the awards presentation at the equestrian club.
